Cannibalizing Bach: Villa-Lobos in Europe, 1936

چکیده
Abstract During the 1930s, Heitor Villa-Lobos concentrated his efforts on coordinating Brazilian musical education. As such, he changed compositional style and did not travel to Europe again until 1936. This article examines Villa-Lobos's trip in 1936, drawing Florencia Garramuño's call ‘incorporate avant-garde voyages as founding moments’ for an autochthonous national character music. journey, represented Brazil different settings: a deputy at International Congress of Music Education Prague composer under-the-radar political negotiations with Nazi Germany Berlin. Considering authoritarian Vargas Regime, modernism, dialectical relation between nationalism internationalism, I argue that this served catalyst new creative phase, culminating series Bachianas brasileiras , resignification J. S. Bach's music legacy context interpretation Antropofagia (cultural cannibalism).

A conserved Bach current
The Bach tensor and a vector which generates conformal symmetries allow a conserved 4-current to be defined. The Bach 4-current gives rise to a quasilocal 2-surface expression for power per luminosity distance in the Vaidya exterior of collapsing fluid interiors.
